A to Z Challenge 2015: L - Laputa

Happy Tuesday!

We're getting close to the half way mark!

Are you hitting your stride yet? My posting is going great, of course, but my blog visiting has been up and down.

So ... technically, as you can probably tell from the poster, this animated feature film is called Castle in the Sky, at least in the US released version.

The original title though is Laputa, or at least some kind of Japanese translation of that. It comes, of course, from the flying island described in the 1726 book Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift.

Today's 2015 April A to Z Blogging Challenge story for the letter L:

Laputa

Here is the summary, from IMDB:

A young boy and a girl with a magic crystal must race against pirates and foreign agents in a search for a legendary floating castle.

Director: Hayao Miyazaki
Writer: Hayao Miyazaki
Stars: Anna Paquin, James Van Der Beek, Cloris Leachman

That's it! Please come back tomorrow.

Never seen or heard of this, but it looks like fun.

I need to get busy. I wrote and prescheduled up to M, but I have nothing beyond that. Oops!

One of my favorite Ghibli films. :)

This movie is great! My kids got me hooked on Miyazaki's movies when Kiki's Delivery Service came out. His movies are a little disturbing and very thought provoking.

Ahhh, the ol' chase for the legendary floating castle. I've been gallivanting quite a few times in search of it.

Always interesting to see the actual name compared to the American name.

My daughter and son are HUGE fans of Japanese "cartoons". IMO, they are more animated graphic novels. I am tired, but learning so much from all these amazing blogs that I can't stop! Lisa, co-host AtoZ 2015, @ http://www.lisabuiecollard.com

Hi Matthew!!!
Dumb question-I'm out of touch with the blogging world-what is this A-Z challenge? Your fave picks for each letter?

My daughter adores Miyazaki! I watched a couple of his movies with her and found them very weird and very compelling.

I've never seen it. I've never even heard of it. It looks like it a fun film. I will have to add it to my growing list of films to finally watch, someday. Cool title.

Laputa sounds interesting. Sounds like a form of Lilliputan. I never read Gulliver's Travels. Only saw the film versions. Maybe it's time to give it a try.

Laputa is new to me. I loved Gulliver's Travels--Swift was such a great satirist. Will have to have a look for this film.
