The Hobbit: First Review

Well, I heard my first review of The Hobbit on NPR's Morning Edition this morning. From Kenneth Turan:

I'm paraphrasing, of course, but it's encouraging. And I now officially will not even look at another blog until I've seen the movie. So please don't tell me what you think until I've had a chance to see it.

Encouraging words :) I'm off to see it in a few hours and I'm very excited :) A heads up - I'm reviewing it tomorrow, so stay away from my place on Friday :P

"It doesn't suck" - hilarious!
I've been reading the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. It's over seventy percent, and that's good enough for me. Even if it's a little slow (the overall complaint) it will still be a visual feast.
Envy Jamie - I won's see it until Friday afternoon. Just can't deal with the crowds at a midnight showing. And that's way past my bedtime.

Sounds good enough for me to hire a babysitter. :) I'm really excited.

I'm pretty sure The Hobbit is the only book I read in its entirety my 8th grade year. I'm actually surprised by private Christian middle school allowed us to read it, but I remember enjoying it a lot. Looking forward to the movie, along with Lincoln, Les Mis, and possibly Cirque du Soleil.

Yeah, I'm worried about the pace. Not that that will stop me from seeing it!

Having really high expectations for something is often the surest way to kill any enjoyment of it.

But I hope you like it. I hear it's got hobbits.

I want to have some witty comment here, but it's too early for me, I think. I'm not sure how soon I'll be able to see it.

Not sucking is good enough for me, though I have my doubts I'll be able to get in to see it over the weekend. Too crowded. But may be able to go mid-week. :)

All I know is that there are a lot of short people in the movie.

I would watch it even if it did suck because I <3 everything Tolkien.

I don't get to see it until next weekend. NEXT WEEKEND.

I haven't see it yet (hopefully tomorrow) but each of my sons saw it with different groups of friends. One son liked it okay but had trouble with it not being as serious as LOTR, while the younger son simply raved about it.

This is all I need. No other reviews are needed until I see it. LOL.
