Pirlo and the Azzurri

They really haven't done anything that impressive yet, and they're going to face a real challenge against the German side on Thursday, but I would still like to congratulate my Azzuri, and especially Andrea Pirlo, on a hard fought victory yesterday.

They dominated the English for two full hours, and things were not looking good when the second penalty shot went wide, but it all worked out in the end.

Now, happy writing, everyone!

I love Italy, but I'll never support their football squad. A few world cups ago, I watched aghast as they cheated again and again throughout the game, falling, tripping, pushing, until they finally 'won' on a false penalty kick awarded to them when their guy wasn't even touched by his opponent. I swore then that I would never root for them.

I have to admit, it's the one sport I don't follow.
And you hit 1300 followers, Matthew!

I don't know anything about this sport. But then, I'm not much into any kind of sport, although I did watch the big French Open matches.

Congratulations Matt on getting to 1300 followers!

Shut up, shut up about bloody England! LOL!! They were so rubbishy - they couldn't even win on penalties when Italy GAVE them the game on a plate when they missed their penalty. Bloody England. Wasted three hours of my LIFE!!!! LOL!!!

Nevermind! The Welbeck goal will forever be enshrined in fab goal history.

Yay for Italy too though - much as I think Balotelli a silly billy willy, he does have a go!

GERMANY all the waaaaaaayyyyy!!!!

Take care

If it weren't for the photo, I'd have no idea what you were talking about. Soccer, right?

I honestly can't stand the strategy and deployment the English used. I think my wife thinks I'm crazy because I complained about it so much. Just terrible. That's no way to play, even though I was cheering for them. They didn't really deserve to win. I would have liked to see them go after the game, push up the field, make some plays. Try to win rather than just sit there.

My Ireland team totally flamed out, but my Germany is looking pretty brilliant. Man, I'd be curious to see a Germany/Spain final.

I noticed the 1300 followers too. Such a great number. :)

Happy writing back at you! As you know, my family is a hockey family; however, my kids are now into soccer too. We've just started watching these matches on TV. And I thought hockey games were loud.

Next time post a shirtless guy instead of that one. There's lots of shirtless soccer pics online.

The European Football (soccer of course) Championship is the 2nd biggest sport event after the World Cup. I've watched all the games. Italy is playing very good now, but watch out for Germany. They have a complete team, with no points of weakness. The German midfielder Mesut Ozil is the best player of the tournament, I think >:)

I was into soccer while living in England. I even had a favorite team (not that I watched soccer). I lost interest when fans became out of control. Hmmm. Much like hockey fans lately. :(

I agree. Great game to watch and if England won with their strictly D game it would have been a shame. Max thought it was awesome too. We're watching on Thursday.

Watching England and Italy the other day was painful! It was kind of a relief when it was over. :-)
