String Bridge Trailer

As usual I'm a day late to the party. My good friend Jessica Bell, also known as The Alliterative Allomorph, has her debut novel, String Bridge, being released this fall by Lucky Press, LLC. As exciting as that is, it's a little ways off.

Today we're going to celebrate something a little more immediate. The book trailer for String Bridge was recently released, and it's rather incredible. It features Jessica herself, singing and playing guitar, and performing a  song that was written by her mother.

Jessica is holding a great contest to celebrate, but before we get to that, let's watch this awesome trailer:

I think it's gorgeous, powerful stuff. I hope you all feel the same. I've actually been lucky enough to have the privilege of reading some of String Bridge, and I can tell you that the beautiful, haunting quality of this trailer matches the melancholy of the story and the lyrical poetry of the prose quite well. I'm looking forward to getting the chance to read the entire novel.

So, to get down to business, Jessica is holding a contest to spread the word. Details are available here, at her original post, but basically you can win free books just by linking to her trailer. Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Writer's Forums, Your Blog. Do whatever you can to get the word out, and you will have a chance to win some very cool books from Jessica.

Just go visit her blog to get the details, you won't be disappointed.

The song is so beautiful.
Some book trailers are (as mentioned above) not well planned out, but this one is pretty.
Congrats to Jessica Bell!

I agree W/ Sarah. I normally hate book trailers. I don't want to do a lot of reading during a youtube video, but in this one the reading, is short, concise, and front-loaded so the music (which is stellar) and images move to the forefront.

The song is quite haunting and I'm sure the story will be as well. Haunting novels and music tend to stay with me longer than anything else. I easily relate to the sadness.

Just one question: where in the world were novel trailers when I was growing up? I feel cheated. They really stir up emotions, motivation and anticipation for the novel. This alone will have me awaiting the release date.

Love it! Usually I avoid trailers because they often spoil the experience of my own imagination when reading the book. This was a music video that was abstract enough that it conveyed the essence of the book without imposing any concrete spoilage. Cool! Thanks for sharing it!

I like it. Beautiful trailer, and Jessica has a great voice. I love the string guitar.

And the final line: how much does the bridge have to fray before you stop trying to cross it . . wow. Powerful.

Loved the trailer. Put me on the preorder list.

You're allowed to be a day late to the party, as long as you still bring booze.

Also, yay Jess! :)

I watched the trailer at her site and thought it was wonderful that she played. I didn't know her mom wrote the song. That's cool. And yes, it was haunting!
