- Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. ~Leonard Cohen
For Bryan:
- The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter - it's the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning. ~Mark Twain
For Andrew:
- A critic can only review the book he has read, not the one which the writer wrote. ~Mignon McLaughlin
And for all of us:
- Ink on paper is as beautiful to me as flowers on the mountains; God composes, why shouldn't we? ~Terri Guillemets

LOVE these! Thanks again for posting them!
Love the Cohen quote - I've never seen that before, but it certainly is beautiful!
Lovin' the quotes, Matt! Twain's really speaks to me today. Thanks.
Ink on paper would even be more beautiful if I possessed legible penmanship! Yay!! LOL!
Awwww but seriously! Great quotes for gorgeous people!! Take care

I like Terri Guillemets' quote a lot. Great selection here!
Ooh, the one for Andrew really made me think. Nice!
Nice. That Twain one is great. They're all great, but I really like that Twain one.
Ha! A classic and fitting quote for me. Thank you, Matthew!
Yay for good quotes! How's the rewrite coming?
Always loved that quotation!
Love that Twain quote. I've used it before myself.
You are on a roll. As a quote junkie, I salute you. (And I had never seen the Terri Guillemets one. Thank you!)
I can relate to the review one!
More great quotes! I loved the one for Jessica, I'd never thought of poetry that way before. :)
I've always LOVED that Twain quote.
The Cohen one on poetry was a new one for me. Liked it as well!!
Thanks for posting these.
Great Leonard Cohen quote. My favorite quote of his is when he was asked why he didn't write more songs, and he said, "If I knew where songs came from I would go there more often."
I love Twain's quote. When I can't find the perfect word, I put in a place holder. Once I couldn't put my finger on the perfect description of my mc's attitude, so described her as a squirrel on crack -- then I forgot to fix it later. My critique partner was surprised (considering I write historical romance).
The perfect word...that's what it is ALL about...
I was at a seminar for work that began with a power point presentation that had the word "lightning" spelled "lightening". It made me giggle and Mark Twain's quote reminded me of that.
I LOVE Mark Twain.
Loving your series of posts, dude! Very wise Jedi, you (and Mr. Mignon McLaughlin) are.
