My Philosophy: Part One

I'm too busy this week to blog for real, so the rest of the days I'm just going to put up one sentence posts that define my philosophies about life, writing, relationships, and silly things like that. Like this one:

Praise should be shouted from the mountaintops; scorn should be whispered, privately.

Great quote. And a great way to keep posting when you're too busy. I can relate to that.

And if this had been a real blog post...?

Agreed; but scorn really is a waste of energy. :)

I think this sums up the correct response to some of the reviewing controversy lately.

Nice! Those Housewives of Wherever (New Jersey, Orange County, etc.) need to take that advice (not that I watch those shows...okay, I've clicked through them and seen about two minutes...why am I defending myself)

I need to make this into a bumper sticker and send it to a few politicians come campaign season.

You're spot on, as usual, Matt.

Closely related to one of my favorites: When you sling a little mud, you lose a little ground.

This makes me want to go out and buy my own mountain. How many crisp Monopoly bills do you think it'll take?

LOVE this idea for one sentence philosophies. And I agree with #1. You said it!

I sound my barbaric praise over the rooftops of the world.

The ability to be concise is quite a gift! And yes, I agree.

Scorn is hard on the vocal chords, anyway.

Nice! Although if the scorn is directed at a person who is in my life on a regular basis, I do like to address the issue with them - privately, of course - for the sake of our being able to work together in the future.

This reminds me of a quote a friend sent me recently that said, "If you can't say something nice, at least have the decency to be vague." Funny, but so often true!
