Upcoming Interview with Andrew Smith

Andrew Smith, author of In the Path of Falling Objects, Ghost Medicine, The Marbury Lens, and the upcoming novel, Stick, has agreed to be interviewed on my blog next week.  Of course I'm very excited, and I have some excellent questions for him, but I would also like to open it up to all of you. If there is something you would like to ask Andrew, please leave your question in the comments and I will try to put a few of them to him.

Thanks!

I don't have experience with this author, however, I'm intrigued that you like him so much and will probably look into his books now. I would like to see what kinds of questions that you've already come up with so far (call me curious). Maybe you could make another post or something with them in it for us snoopy types. :)))

Oh, exciting! I guess question for Andrew would be why he chose the era he did for In the Path of Falling Objects. Why the Vietnam war for the brother's setting?

Can't wait to read the interview.

AHHHH so exciting! No specific questions, sorry! I follow him on Twitter too, and think his tweets are silly--so I have a feeling he is a character :D Can't wait!

I'm sure your questions to, Andrew Smith, will be engaging enough. I look forward to the interview.

You look rather fetching in pink by the way :)

I have no original questions.

Same old stuff, like how long did he write before being published? and does he have old manuscripts hidden in his sock drawer?

I'm sure your questions will rock!

Did he have the idea for his cover? Or how did it come to be?
Great blog, I'll see what I can learn from you.

No question yet.
Just wanted to say that.

How's he keep focused on his writing and not get distracted by the temptations of the net?

And where can I get those shades?

I have a question!!!

What kind of world did the blue lens in THE MARBURY LENS lead to?

What do you know now as a published author you wish you could tell your past unpublished self (except for knowing you'll be published someday!)

Thanks Matthew for the opportunity!

And Carolyn just read Marbury Lens and gave me an interesting review. Can't WAIT to read your interview~ :o) <3

How about: How is he marketing his book? What did he think worked and what would he have done differently in retrospect?

Now, THAT is a rockin' cover. Looking forward to the interview!

This sounds to be another exciting interview! I'd like to know when he started writing novels and how difficult it was for him to get published the first time :) Thanks Matthew!

Andrew deals with so many tough subjects in his writing. I'd like to know if there is anything he wouldn't tackle. Anything too risqué for YA?

Can't wait to read the interview!

I picked The Marbury Lens as one of my unforgettable reads of last year, but I did so with the warning that it's not for the squeamish.
Some people might not be able to stomach one particular horrific event. But the story becomes an amazing study of trauma. I don't think I will ever forget Jack, either of the worlds he inhabited, or the chilling terror of his fragmented life.

I'm not sure what question to ask Andrew, but I'd like to know if he wrestles with how gritty and intense he will write in YA. What kind of feedback does that generate?
And for The Marbury Lens, would he talk a bit about the seed for that story and how it grew?

Thanks in advance to both of you.
