Bernard Pivot Blogfest

Yesterday was Nicole Ducleroir's Blogfest. I couldn't make it because of my stupid day job. I'm trying to make up for that now. Please visit Nicole's blog to find all the other entrants.

What is your favorite word? Hmm. That's tough. I love so many words. My favorite changes all the time. I think my favorite right now may be perseverance.

What is your least favorite word? That's easy. Hate.

What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? Mountains. And Trees. I love those two things, especially together, like a fat guy loves a chair.

What turns you off? Religion. Not so much religion in general, as people pushing religion. I read somewhere on the internet once that religion is like a penis. When you're in public, please keep it in your pants, and when you're in private, please don't try to shove it down anyone's throat.

What is your favorite curse word? Motherfucker. Nothing is more fun to say.

What sound or noise do you hate? Alarm clock. There seem to be a preponderance of TV and radio commercials that feel they have to include this sound.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Attorney. I would love to fight for justice.

What profession would you not like to do? Police Officer.

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? Can I get you a drink?

I wish I could have been on time with this, but sometimes life gets in the way!

Attorney? Really? I know you are right that there really are some who fight for justice, but the few I have known have been people I am glad I no longer know.

No job these days is stupid, lame but essential :)

Attorney, huh?! I can see that.

Matthew, I love you for being the kind of person to express the religion thing so eloquently! lol Although, I agree with that analogy 100%

Great answers. Though I had to laugh when you picked attorney as your favorite profession. Sadly it's not all about fighting for justice thought that was my dream when I started. And it's quite stressful.

I'm gonna have to share that religion analogy with my husband--pretty funny :) I'm with you in terms of mountains and trees being great sources of inspiration!

OMG, Matt! I LOVED your religion is like a penis answer!! Living where we do, I hope you share this hilarious analogy in only the most discriminating circles. LOL

Thanks so much for playing along!

Great answers for fave and least fave word!
And seriously. I love trees too. My living room decor is fall leaves/trees and one reason we bought the house we live in (and are selling boo hoo) is because of all the tall beautiful trees.
And what drink would you have? :)

Great answers! I particularly love your religion answer. :)

ooh, i completely agree with your turn off. I found an agent the other day that did that. Needless to say, her agency is not on my query list

I checked the page out yesterday. It reminded me of a literary version of Inside the Actor's Studio. I love watching that show. After seeing it, I made sure I was ready with answers. As if James Lipton would interview some silly unknown person. I might just do this myself, though.

I totally agree with you, the alarm clock is the worst noise. It incites anxiety and chills.

What a description for religion! Religion is dogma as far as I can tell and dogma is man-made. Spirituality on the other hand....

I agree, spirituality and religion are two separate things, but I still prefer to keep personal views about either one to myself. Good answers, Matt!

*snort* re: religion comment, and you're right about that alarm clock thing... that is becoming one of my least favorite sounds. In addition to lawnmowers. ;p

he he love what you said about religion :)

Good answers. Don't you just hate when the day job or, um, life, gets in the way?

"Can I get you a drink." Now that's hospitality.

(Commenting on my blog, you asked if Rocket Donuts is in Freemont. No, Bellingham. Perfect for Freemont, though.)

A couple things:

1. "I love mountains like a fat guy loves a chair" nearly made me spew vodka through my nose. Let me tell you, vodka dripping from one's nostrils is less than comfy. Be glad I stopped the flow, otherwise I'd've had to hunt you down and pour 100-proof Smirnoff in your honker.

2. I'd prefer to fight for justice as a vigilante killer. I can't be arsed memorizing all those damn laws. Also, I'd need a sidekick. Like Angelina Jolie in Salt. Or in Wanted. Basically just Angelina Jolie.

This is one more reason why I love reading your blog. You're so M**F**ing entertaining.

Great answers! Your religion comment reminded me of a sign I saw on FB recently: Religion is like a penis. It's fine if you have one, and it's even fine if you're proud of it. But you probably shouldn't wave it around, and I definitely don't want you shoving it down my throat.
