Quotes Week, Part One

This week I'm just going to be featuring a bunch of quotes about writing. Because, well, I need to be writing, instead of blogging. So here you go:

For Simon:
  • You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you. ~Ray Bradbury

For me (because I need to remember this while in revision):
  • I try to leave out the parts that people skip. ~Elmore Leonard

For Ted:
  • If there's a book you really want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it. ~Toni Morrison

  6. I LOVE quotes in general and but these are great. You nailed the perfect one for Simon too. And, I"m trying to revise as well, so the quote from Elmore Leonard is just what I needed to hear! Have a great Monday and good luck with your revisions.

  9. Or, if you're a celebrity, you can hire someone else to write that book under your name!

And it can be any book! Since the celebrity probably hasn't read any books anyway. Think of all the selection!

  21. The Morrison quote is a favorite of mine, and the Elmore quote is perfect for one in the middle of revisions - that's a good way of thinking about the story.

And, of course, the quote for Simon is perfect.

    Happy writing.

  34. Good choices for all of us. Just so you know, my uncle's house's internet it down, so I haven't been able to get on except for rare times when we visit a Starbucks.
