Critique Partners

First of all a quick update on Frisky/Fatty Bolger. Kelly and the kids went to visit him yesterday and they said that he looked very sad with a kitty catheter running up one leg and a kitty IV running down the other ... but he was okay and he responded to their presence, which I think is a good sign. I couldn't go with because I have this stupid thing called a day job.

Anyway I think he is going to be all right.

As far as my actual post it will have to be short today but I just want to say that I am loving my critique group right now. Their feedback is astute and they have the courage to be honest with me, which is difficult but of course crucial to the process. I only hope that my feedback is helping them as much as theirs is helping me.

That is all.

  1. Yes, your feedback is good. Perhaps more than any one person's feedback, it is helpful to see what several people think.

  3. I have been struggling finding critique partners. I have beta readers among my friends, but no fellow writers to share and share alike with.

Did you find yours online? Was it a local writers' group?

  12. Glad kitty is okay :) I love love love my CP's they are fab and helpful to the nth degree. When I first joined them I was terrified I wasn't going to be able to critique as well and my feedback would be horrid. Well four months later and I become a staff member and provide a beta service for those who need fresh eyes. Good CP's are priceless, glad you found a great group :)

I'm glad you have a critique group you really like. From what I hear having a great one can be a huge help ... the converse is also true. Awesome that you got into a good one!

  15. Glad the kitty is going to be okay. As a person with six (3 outdoor, 3 indoor) cats--and yes, I know how crazy that sounds--I hate hearing about sick kitties. It is le sad. :(

And I'm glad you're loving your critique group. Good CPs are hard to find, so when you have them it's like gold!

  23. Hope you kitty gets well soon. I've been there. (I'd send you hugs, but hubby might get the wrong idea.)

You definitely got to love great feedback . . . and great critters. My beta readers are technically more like crit partners. :)

  24. Oh I have everything crossed that Frisky will be ok. He sounds very very sick with all these tubes running in and out of him. I hope hope hope that he pulls through!!

And it's great that your critique group is helping you with your writing. It's so important to feel comfortable and safe to be able to take and give feedback. I wish you all the very best with this!

    Take care

  25. Its hard letting other people read our stuff and offer their opinions...great job on opening up. I've learned so much about my writing and my tolerance for criticism through my own group.
